about

Also known as My Dearest Dear and The Time Draws Near, this song was heard in both the Appalachians and the Ozarks after the Civil War. Willy first learned it as My Dearest Dear in 3/4 time signature from a Daithi Sproule recording with the group Trian and years later discovered Arnie Naiman's and then Bruce Molsky's recording of the song as The Blackest Crow in 4/4. This interpretation is inspired by these recordings and is followed by an instrumental Willy composed called the Pear Cider Ramble.
